Knee Replacement Brief

On October 25th, students from advanced science classes attended a livestream of a knee replacement surgery in the iStudio, which was broadcasted by Mount Carmel.

Students were encouraged to ask questions to the medical staff. Ellise Riggs, sophomore, said, “It was interesting to watch the surgery and see what it would be like to have a career in orthopedics.”

Students watched everything from the preparation that goes into a surgery to the success of the operation. Lauren Sefton, science teacher, explained the importance of students viewing this surgery.

This is a unique and really rare opportunity to see a real world, practical application of the course work you learn about in action,” Sefton said.
