Halloween 2021 Costumes Reflect Pop Culture
October 30, 2021
Since 1585, with the tradition from the ancient Celtic festival, people have been dressing up in costumes on Oct. 31. However, throughout those years, the costumes have changed.
With Halloween coming up and costume ideas floating around, the theme for costumes this year according to the student body through an Instagram poll, is characters from a movie or TV show. There have been a lot of new memes and new shows that came out this year.
There are many costume options for anyone who wants to celebrate as an individual, a couple or a group of friends.
Senior Colleen Morrison is going to be Reya from “Star Wars.” Morrison said, “I like her character in “Star Wars”, and I saw someone else dressed as her at a Halloween party.”
Some basic Halloween costumes that are sure to be seen on Halloween night would include a fairy, a ghost, a witch, a zombie, a bat, a skeleton, and even a clown.
For all of the couples or groups of two, the Disney fans would like Woody and Jessie, Hannah Montana and Lily, Elsa and Anna. Guy and girl combinations would be Bonnie and Clyde, Harley Quinn and the Joker or Barbie and Ken. An angel and devil is a classic.
Group costumes are always popular, from movie characters from “Scooby Doo”, “Grease”, or “The Wizard Of Oz” to the Kardasians, Clue characters, and three blind mice.
Celebrating Halloween is a tradition that has been around for hundreds of years. With last year being so different and difficult, this year is sure to be filled with interesting costumes.
For example, Junior Sammy Spangler, said, “I am dressing up as a hot dog with my boyfriend. I got my costume at Target, and I will wear it at my friend’s Halloween party.”
