Junior class officers took to their instagram page to announce the winner for Prom themes. Over half of the 148 students who voted for prom themes voted for French terrace.
Aicha Doumbouya, senior, said “I’m happy French terrace won because it’s different from the other themes, it has a mystical vibe and it’s charming”.
Junior class officers and advisors, Jacob Miller and Sarah Detrick, worked together to compile a list of different themes with pictures to represent the overall idea. They all later voted on three that they took to the public vote.
The themes included gilded glamour, sky full of dreams, and French terrace.
“In terms of looking ahead, the officers and advisors are working to plan the decorations and DJ. We put a lot of time and attention on the decorations for the tables and centerpieces, and we’ll try to involve some greenery and lights to bring to life the theme that students are looking forward to,” Miller said.
Seniors expect a wide array of decorations for the French terrace. Senior Isata Bangura said she hopes to see fluorescent lights, gold lanterns and fairy lights.
Senior Caveer Smith said he expects decor such as plastic frogs, lily pads and little ponds of water. And, senior Atang Fontem said, “ I want a hallway like a maze with green plants and LED lights all over leading into the reveal of the decorations inside.”
“There’s a prom planning committee to help with decorations. Anyone interested can talk to me and Ms.Detrick, and we’ll reach out to them,” Miller said.
