The Lady Wildcats head into the playoffs finishing strong in the regular season with a record of 17-5 and are currently on are on a seven game winning streak, beating opponents Westerville Central, Big Walnut, and Delware Hayes
They went undefeated in the OCC, with a record of 12-0. As regular season play comes to an end, they are preparing for playoffs.
Early in their season, on Nov. 23, the Lady ‘Cats experienced a loss on the road against Winton Woods, with a final score of 62-52.
“We had a tough loss to a tough opponent, even though we’ve lost, it was still a winnable game”, said Senior Atang Fontem.
However, three weeks later the Lady ‘Cats hosted rival Westerville North, upsetting the Warriors as they came out with a big win of 68-24 on Dec.12. Sophomore Kaelyn Patterson led the scoring for the Wildcats as she dropped 12 points in the game.
The Lady ‘Cats have continued to dominate their opponents like Westland, defeating them 84-10 on Jan.10 and Dublin Scioto 71-41 on Jan.21, showcasing their dominant young team this year.
On Jan.30, they beat cross-town rival Westerville North for the second time in the regular season with a win of 66-33.
“The win was good for us… rivalries are always fun and exciting with the energy and effort that goes into them,” Junior Ava Quint said.
The Lady ‘Cats would finish the season off on the road as they visited Westerville Central defeating the Warhawks 56-40 on Feb.10 as they pushed their winning streak to seven.
“Beating Central was a good feeling that closed out our regular season. We started off very strong by sharing the ball and rebounding very well” said Senior Peyton Bethea.
The Lady ‘Cats take on Dublin Scioto on Feb.20 with the hopes of winning districts and making a run at states.
