Hi! My name is Ama Asare and I am a senior and also the reporter on the Scribe Team. I am on the Varsity Girls Tennis Team, National Honors Society, and many other activities at Westerville South. I enjoy being active and spending time with friends and family. In the future, I hope to become some sort of medical professional while exploring and traveling the world. My goal on the Scribe team is to report the best and accurate news possible!

William Edward Burghardt Du Bois, also known as W.E.B Du Bois, was born in Great Barrington, Massachusetts on February 23, 1868. He was the first African-American to receive a PhD from Harvard. Du Boise's Black nationalism took several forms, the most influential of which was his pioneering advocacy of Pan-Africanism, the belief that all people of African descent shared common interests and should work together to achieve freedom. In the face of racism, Du Bois concluded that social change could be achieved through agitation and protests. He disagreed with Booker T. Washington, who preached the philosophy of accommodation and urged African-Americans to accept discrimination. Du Bois' famous book, “The Souls of Black Folk”, criticized Washington's beliefs, and he also led the Niagara Movement, which aimed to undermine Washington's platform. The Westerville South Girls Tennis Team celebrates their sweep against Westerville North High School after a tough competition on the second doubles court. The Wildcat Ladies played against the Warrior Ladies at Westerville South High School on Aug. 18, 2021. Mary Pedrozo (senior), Leanne Ngo (junior), and Baydan Matan (senior) took on singles. On the doubles court, Ama Asare (senior) and Kyra Lesmerises (senior) played first doubles and Nhi Ton (senior) and Claudia Stanton (junior) played second doubles. The Lady Cats won 5-0 against Westerville North.
