Mary McLeod Bethune (1875-1955) was an American Educator, Humanitarian,

Feminist, civil rights activist.  She was one of the earliest black female activists

to begin the building blocks of the civil rights movement. Bethune devoted her entire life to fight for equality in education and for the freedom and end to discrimination for all African Americans according to Womanist History.
