Delaware Area Career Center offers programs for students, who want hands-on training,to fulfill their passions. “Fire Service Training has always been a passion of mine,”  Senior Dominic Caldwell stated.

  DACC works to enhance your academic education with hands-on instruction that is focused on each individual student’s area of interest. DACC students still graduate from their home high school, but they do so with additional college credits, industry credentials, and valuable experiences.

           Benefits of attending the career center are earning all your fine arts and elective credits through them, learning hands on everyday and getting real life experiences, according to Justin Ferguson, WSHS guidance counselor.  

 “Going makes you marketable as a college applicant, especially if you’re studying a field you’re majoring in and makes you more well-rounded. The list goes on and on,” Ferguson commented.

DACC offers over 29 different programs for juniors and seniors. The programs range from Fire Service Training, BioScience, Digital Arts to Early Childhood Education, and that is to name only a few. You can find additional information regarding programs on the DACC website under the tab titled, Programs of Studies.  At DACC, you have the opportunity to go all day, which Fort Hayes and Columbus Downtown Career Center do not offer. 

 Caldwell, who goes to DACC, said, “I wanted to go because it was a better idea than staying in school for six hours a day. For fire training, I get an early chance to get into a department after high school. I get to go more into the depth of what they learn in Columbus Fire Academy. I also get a certification at the end of the program.” 

Victor Gonzales, also a senior who goes to DACC said, “I wanted to go because I wanted to work in a lab. I picked BioScience because I really like science. I really liked that the program looks great on my college application.”
