FREE College Application Workshop: Next Week, Thursday, October 13, 2022 from 11:30am – 2:30pm

 

“Dia de los Muertos” or “Day of the Dead” is a Mexican Holiday. The holiday focuses on gatherings of family and friends to pray for a remember friends and family members who have died. It is particularly celebrated in Mexico, where it attains the quality of a National Holiday. The celebration takes place

on November 1st and 2nd. The Book of Life and Coco are both movies based on this celebration. Happy Hispanic Heritage Month!

 

Blood is essential to help patients survive surgeries, cancer treatment, chronic illnesses, and traumatic injuries. This lifesaving care starts with one person making a generous donation. There will be a blood drive in the Auxiliary gym on Tuesday, October 18th. If you are interested, there will be a sign up table in the cafeteria during lunch periods.

 

Join our winning Battle of the Books team! Battle of the Books is a competition where students are quizzed on their knowledge about certain books in a Jeopardy Style game. Come join the fun!

Ask Mrs. Young, our librarian, located in the main office (or email her) for more information. Meetings will start October 10 after school, but be sure to get the list of books to start! Our meeting will take place Monday in the blue wing fishbowl room.

 

Like to write? Want to hone your writing skills? Join creative writing club! Our first meeting is Wednesday, October 12 from after school until 3:00 PM in the blue wing fishbowl room.

 

We now have aluminum and plastic recycling bins in the green wing quad only! Please leave these items out of the blue recycling bins. Environment Club’s next meeting is Tuesday, October 11th, in room 1318 after school. See you there!

 

I know, I know, you missed Knitting Club’s fun announcements these past two weeks. KNOT to worry, we have you covered with the KNITTY-gritty on Knitting Club’s next meeting! Knitting Club will be meeting TODAY after school in Mr’s Freshly’s room 1318 from 2:15 to 3:00. Do KNIT worry, you can come even if you don’t know how to knit, forgot your supplies, NEEDLE-ittle (need a little) help, or don’t even want to learn how to knit! You can come to learn, chill, listen to music, or have some of Mrs. Freshly’s amazing snacks! We’ll see you TODAY after school!

 

Homecoming is tomorrow! Today is the last day to purchase tickets.  Tickets are $15 and will be on sale in all three lunches in the commons, and after school in room 1127 until 2:45. You must have all fees and fines paid (including parking tickets) to buy your ticket. You also must have filled out and submitted your student code of conduct form. AP and IB fees are the only ones not due. If you are bringing a guest from another school, their dance guest form must be on file before you can buy their ticket, and you must buy their ticket when you buy yours.
