Late in the summer Sharps was named a team captain by her teammates and coaches, one of the biggest accomplishments in high school sports that many don’t receive. Marlee wa/s so grateful to be named captain, stating, “I’m super honored my team chose me as captain.” She also talked about how she hopes to live up to the team’s expectations of what a captain should look like.
Senior and fellow captain Yui Seki is so proud of her co-captain’s ability to lead the team, confidently saying, “Marlee is a great leader; she’s able to stay calm and is one of the best communicators on and off the court. Teams need people like her who are able to lead the court by stepping up to get the kill while also lifting others. She has a really competitive spirit that she’s able to spread to others.”
Sharps is super excited to start her junior year. She shared how the recruiting process is going for her and how much looks forward to playing in college. “I’m super excited. I just recently had an official visit at EMU,” she said.
Thank you to everyone who voted for Athlete of the Week and congrats to Sharps, good luck with the rest of your season and school year.
