Football
The football team hosted Westerville North this year in a commanding victory. Westerville North started with possession but senior Ja’Mari Alston made an interception just two minutes into the game to give the Wildcats possession which eventually led to an 11-yard rushing touchdown for Jhalil Armstrong. Junior Ethan Rozen made the extra point which put the Wildcats up 7-0. With about a minute left in the half, Westerville North scored a touchdown and made the extra point to tie the game 7-7. The Wildcats came out blazing in the second half where Armstrong rushed for another touchdown just 4 minutes into the half. Rozen made the extra point to make the score 14-7 in favor of the Wildcats. About two minutes later, the Wildcat defense forced the Warriors to punt from their own endzone. As the Warriors were punting, the kick was blocked and the ball went out the back of the endzone for a safety and it put the Wildcats up 16-7. Next, at the beginning of the 4th quarter, Jhalil Armstrong rushed for yet another touchdown and of course Rozen knocked down the extra point to put Westerville South up 23-7. The next possession, it looked like Westerville North was going to score. But right as the Warriors were about to get into scoring position, senior Hassan Kaba made an interception and took it all the way home for an 85-yard pick 6. Rozen easily made the extra point to make the score now 30-7. This would be the final score of the game as the Wildcats now “rule the ville” with victories over both Westerville North and Westerville Central this season.
