Born on Aug. 4, 1961 in Honolulu, Hawaii, partly raised in Indonesia, and with an immigrant father, Barack Obama’s story is impressive.
Studying at Columbia, and later becoming the first Black president of the Harvard Law Review. Obama chose to become a community organizer in Chicago, to the U.S. House and Senate, and finally to becoming the first African-American president in the nation’s history.
Obama’s story is one of excellence, vision, and kindness for those around him. Throughout his life, he has been driven to achieve his goals, and follow his beliefs in hope for the future, creating an optimistic time period of American history thanks partly due to his pushes for the Affordable Care Act, which helped millions of Americans get more health coverage.
After handling the 2008 financial recession, the biggest economic disaster since the Great Depression, Obama proved himself to be a capable, commanding, and most importantly, a compassionate leader for the United States. Obama also received a Nobel Prize in Peace in 2009. I chose to write about Obama because I believe he was an inspirational leader, and represented a time of hope in America.
